Soccer Programs
Overview
Region 425's season consists of two 8 game sessions, Fall and Spring. The Fall session typically runs from September thru mid-November and the Spring session is mid-April thru June (Fall AND Spring season are included in your 1-time payment) Girls and Boys play in separate divisions grouped by age. The age groups are U6, U8, U10, U12, U14 and U17/HS (U6 means under the age of 6 as of July 31 prior to the start of the Fall Season). Children are assigned to teams based on age, ability and experience with the goal of creating balanced teams. Each team has a Head Coach, Assistant Coach,Team Parent and the children are provided a uniform as part of their registration fee. For U6 & U8 divisions, we ask that the Team Parent or other Parent complete the Referee Training and help referee the games.
We recently created a new U5 division. This division focuses on
introducing players to the game of soccer as well as some basic soccer
skills. All U5 players practice on the same day each week and have
games on Saturdays. U5 teams change every week and are organized each Saturday prior to the games. U5 practices and games are professionally organized and run by professional trainers. Parents coach the U5 games.
For U6-U17, practices are held once per week. We also offer 45 minutes clinics run by professional trainers for free during the week. Check website for information on clinics. U6 practices the first 15 minutes of their game time. U8-U17 practice days, times and locations are selected by the Team Coach. U8-U17 also have professional trainers available to assist the coaches for 30 minutes of their practice time.
At every level, coaching and play is focused on continually building
soccer skills and an appreciation for the game. In the younger
divisions, teams are smaller, fields are smaller, play is short-sided
and rules are simplified to ensure every player gets the maximum amount of playing time and touches on the ball. As players get older,
additional concepts like goalies, positions, off-sides, corner kicks
and penalty kicks are introduced. AYSO's Core Philosophies and
Sportmanship are observed at all times.
Our U-14 and HS Programs are some of the finest in the township. Our U-14 and HS Teams currently play in an interregional program with other AYSO Regions. Each week, they play a game at home or they travel to another Region. The High School Girls play in the Fall and the High School Boys play in the Spring.
Upon completion of the Season in June, trophies are awarded to all participants. Many teams also organize an end of season party for all players and parents.
Did you know that we also have a V.I.P. Team for children with disabilities who want to play soccer? Email info@ayso425.com for more information.
We also have a "Soccer Buddy" Program for children who play in our regular league, and who would like the assistance of a High School Student with AYSO Certification.
